Hi everybody. I’ll be here at 1500 UK (1600 CET) on Tuesday to answer all of your World Cup questions ahead of Germany’s massive semi-final showdown with Brazil. Please submit them early here or via social media using the hashtag #AskHamann

Bassem Zabaneh ‏@BassemZabaneh 58s Do you think Kroos should just reveal the club he’ll play for next season as it relieves pressure and stress?
Dietmar Hamann: I don’t think he should reveal his club. It should be dealt with after the last game. I think he has played really well until now. This is about the national team, not club business and he can answer questions about it from Monday onwards.

The Special John ‏@bainesyDiego10 Germany have a recent history of falling short after reaching the latter stages of tournaments. Why?
Dietmar Hamann: There is no real explanation. They have lost against good teams twice, the others were more beatable. Maybe it is psychological, it is very hard to explain. This year, however, is a better chance than they have had previously. In recent tournaments they have maybe had better players, but as a group this squad seems stronger – which is why they have a great chance to win a major title.

Mayowa Martins ‏@OluwaProdo @goal_intl Do u think Germany is capable of winning the world cup? #askhamann
Dietmar Hamann: They have the capability to win the World Cup. They dismantled France very emphatically. Neymar is out, I’m not sure if Messi is 100 per cent – although he did well early on. Holland have Van Persie and Robben but in a final I would fancy Germany to beat Holland.

July 8 2014 3:15 PM
kondwani kumwenda ‏@KKumwenda An all european final in south america will be interesting.what do you think?#askHamann
Dietmar Hamann: I don’t think it matters. The World Cup final is the biggest sporting event on earth, it only happens every four years. Any of the finals will be an absolute cracker. When I played in 2002, the tension built day by day, it got more intense. The thing you remember is that there are 32 teams at the start – and then there are only 2 left. So you must have done well. But it’s really important not to use up too much nervous energy worrying about the size of the event.

Saeed Maje ‏@Saeedmajee #AskHamann What do you think about the criticism that Ozil receives so far at the world cup? #GER
Dietmar Hamann: It’s very harsh. I think he has played fine, doing a decent job for the team. In Germany, people tend to be critical no matter how he plays. I think he has improved as the tournament has gone on. Work-rate is not the issue, German fans want him to create opportunities and score the goals. You need creative players, sometimes you have to give them some freedom and he deserves that.

July 8 2014 3:25 PM
The Special John ‏@bainesyDiego10 #AskHamann you missed your best player – Ballack – in the 2002 final. What psychological impact did that have? How will it affect Brazil?
Dietmar Hamann: It was not that hard on us. We still had experienced players but we missed not having him on the pitch because he was our biggest goal threat. Neymar is a different kind of player, he is more creative. In a funny way, I think it could have a positive effect for Brazil because other players such as Willian, Hulk and Oscar can step out of his shadow. Brazil rely heavily on Neymar, this could free up others. If I was the German coach, I would prefer to play Brazil with Neymar. You know what you are getting, I think the players tonight will relish the opportunity of being the main man.

July 8 2014 3:31 PM
El Cerebro ‏@Ajuyah_tuale #AskHamann even with Neymar Brazil’s chances of winning were slim, now without him it seems impossible. How do you fancy Brazil’s chances?
Dietmar Hamann: I would not write Brazil off. It could have the reverse effect giving other players the chance to shine tonight. I would still fancy Germany but the game is a lot more dangerous for them now.

July 8 2014 3:32 PM
Kiran Neupane ‏@highway_unit5 How should Joachim Low use Mario Gotze against Brazil? #AskHamann
Dietmar Hamann: He has had a very disappointing season at Bayern. People expected more and also in the tournament. I don’t think he will be starting again tonight. He is talented but he lacks conviction going towards goal. He has been disappointing so far for a player of his obvious quality.

July 8 2014 3:35 PM
Rakshith Kumar ‏@rakshithbayar #AskHamann Do you think referee’s are favoring South American countries?
Dietmar Hamann: I don’t think the South American teams have been favoured. I think in the main the referees have been very good. Maybe there should have been more bookings. I always want the game to flow, perhaps they have done that too much. There have been hardly any talking points in terms of penalties and offsides which has made it the best World Cup that I remember.

July 8 2014 3:39 PM
Ahmadosios ‏@Ahmadosios Who is the best German manager right now? and who may manage the national team after Joachim Löw leaves his position? #AskHamann
Dietmar Hamann: I would not compare a national coach with a club coach. The obvious successor would be Jurgen Klopp from Dortmund eventually but it would be a long shot for him to take over any time soon. There are few young ones coming through. But Low has another 2 years and I would expect him to continue. The semi-finals was a bare minimum and he has already achieved that.

July 8 2014 3:43 PM
Do you think Germany would have been doing better with Reus in this tournament?
Dietmar Hamann: I think he is Germany’s most influential and best player going forward but they are in the semis now without him. So it is difficult to say he would improve them but, yes, I am a big fan and he is still a big loss.

July 8 2014 3:45 PM
Abdulazeez ‏@abdul5762 How is liverpool faring under Brendan Rodgers? #AskHamann
Dietmar Hamann: They are in very good shape. Brendan has done a wonderful job so far. The club is back on the right track. They have exciting young players and he seems to get the best out of them. The Champions League is another big test this year but this is the most confident I have been for a number of years. I am not too bothered about Suarez. He missed a quarter of the games last year and don’t forget, in the end, they didn’t win anything. The guy would then have missed 10 games from the start of this season. I am not worrying about it, I like the replacements. The club will be a better place.

July 8 2014 3:50 PM
D.K ‏@red_hass 47s Who do you think can replace Suarez at Liverpool ? #AskHaman
Dietmar Hamann: The goals will be shared round. Origi has a big part to play, Lambert is well suited to Liverpool’s style. Lallana will create chances so will the other attacking players. There is a buzz around Liverpool again and this is a fantastic opportunity for someone else to step up. Sturridge did brilliantly last year and he didn’t get the recognition because he was always in Suarez’s shadow. He has matured a lot in recent years, I played with him at Man City and I am sure he has the capability to step up.

July 8 2014 3:56 PM
Rafsan Faruque ‏@Jugol1996 Who will win the Golden ball? #AskHamann
Dietmar Hamann: I will pick a German because I think they will win the World Cup. My selection is Neuer with Hummels a close second.

July 8 2014 3:58 PM
Chikondi Phiri @SeanPhiri @goal_intl among the players who have exited the competition. Whom will you miss the most?? #AskHamann
Dietmar Hamann: The two teams I will miss most are Bosnia and Croatia. Pjanic is a terrific player as is Dzeko but I also wanted to see more of Modric and Rakitic. Varane and Pogba are two of the most exciting talents in the world right now.

July 8 2014 4:04 PM
Dietmar Hamann: Unfortunately, that is all we have time for. Thank you all for your questions.
