Dietmar Hamann is confident Bayern Munich’s 5-0 aggregate defeat against Real Madrid in the semifinal of the Champions League won’t have an impact on Germany’s chances in the World Cup.
The former Germany international, our Sony expert following Joachim Löw’s men in Brazil, is confident his nation’s team are in good health despite the lack of Bundesliga success in Europe this season.“Bayern Munich got beat by a very good side and everything went against them, with two set pieces for Real Madrid early on,” said Hamann. “I don’t think it’ll have too much impact on Germany. Bayern won the Champions League and there were two German teams in the final last year.”Indeed Hamann believes there could be a positive spin-off for Germany. “If anything the players will be able to meet up earlier because they won’t be playing in the final,” he said.
“Bayern Munich have been very successful in recent years. I don’t think one defeat in a semifinal will make that much difference.”
